Multimedia Development Corporation (MDeC)

MDeC has been given the mandate by the Malaysian Government for the coordination, promotion and development of the information technology (IT) industry and selected services in MSC Malaysia

The Roles of MDeC

• advises the government on IT legislation and policies;

• develops MSC Malaysia-specific practices and set world-class standards for MSC Malaysia information infrastructure and urban development;

• attracting world class companies to Malaysia. for example, to collaborate with Intel to train local graduates for ICT jobs;

• nurturing Malaysia's SME's e.g. to help local animation firms to go international. "Shock 3D" an example of Malaysian success story in animation oversea.

• to catalyze the creation of local technopreneurs and K-SMEs in ICT, e.g. to assist the SMEs in Pre-Seed Funding of up to RM150K, and subsequently to help in their commercially viable ICT projects.
